Obsession Wednesday!

Hello beauties! Sorry for the super super long hiatus! I've been having lot of computer issues (to make a long story short lol). Along with major computer issues I've been uber busy with family things all that good and bad stuff lol. Anywho! although this is mainly a beauty blog, I thought it would be okay if I decided to write about other things I'm passionate about or just tend to enjoy. With that being said, I was ALWAYS told that I was an "old soul" by my family and friends. I've been liking, rather obsessing, over all things 40s-60s! It could very well be my current "Mad Men" or my old Frank Sinatra obsession (I have loved old blue eyes since I was very very little..thanks Grandma!) For months all I've been listening to or watching is: Fly me to the moon, Nice 'n' Easy, I've got you under my skin, One for my baby, You can't take that from me..as well as watching Mad Men, movies likes Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, The Seven year Itch, How to steal a Million, Roman Holiday, and OF COURSE Breakfast at Tiffanys (my favorite movie of all time..cliche but true!) The purpose of telling you, beauties my current obsessions is because these eras of music and movies has heavily influenced my makeup routine and hair styles! Surprise Surprise...hahaha! Daily, my makeup routine transformed into the classic winged liner, sometimes a longer flick or sometimes a shorter. I've also experimented with different shades of lipsticks ranging from reds to peaches to pinks. Some are my favorite this month are of course 'Ruby woo' from MAC, a very matte blue toned red, sometimes I pair a lipglass from MAC called 'Wonder Woman' with red and orange sparkles in it, it looks sensational! Also I've enjoyed wearing 'Vegas Volt' also from MAC, a vibrant orangey-pink, (sorry for all the MAC, when I was younger I would only wear MAC lipsticks..young and naive hahaha). Fuchsias have also made an appearance on my lips lately. Specifically, 'Fuchsia Fever' from Covergirl (finally not a MAC lippie). Let us not forget about my absolute favorite YSL's number 13 'Peach Passion' its exactly what the name says, a true peachy-pink, very smooth and creamy, LOVE LOVE LOVE! Blushes I've been reaching for, Illamasqua's blusher in 'Lover', a creamsicle orange color, just beautiful! Nars 'Exhibit A', a bright red with orangey hues, it looks terrifying in the pan but you can really sheer it out to give you a "natural flush" (like blushing after receiving a compliment from someone special). Or if its a lazy day I'll just reach for my bronzer for a light wash of color. I use Too Faced 'Chocolate Soleil' bronzer (I imagine this is was heaven smells like). As for my hair, its been all about soft curls. Naturally, me and my cheapy clipless curling iron have been besties..easiest yet most dangerous thing ever..lol. Well, I just thought I'd share my inspirations with you, lovies. Please share your current obsessions/inspirations!! I would love to see what gets you motivated for beauty and fashion! Until next time loves!

Aubri's Favorite Spring Lippies!

Hi loves! It was so difficult for me to start my day today due to the dreary weather we're experiencing in my area. (major boo for dreary weather) So to cheer me up and make me more productive I decided to do a bright spring lip! Which inspired me to share some of my favorite spring lipsticks with you beauties! Hope you enjoy! Please share your favorite spring lippies with me! I'd love to try some new ones! (excuse my gross nails..ew.)

I love to wear pink lipsticks and for the spring especially this spring since pastels are soo IN. Why not rock a pale pink lip! This one specially is MAC's Viva Glam Gaga (the first one). It's a blue toned light pink it's also a lustre so it's very creamy.

Of course you need a nude for spring! I wear Airy Fairy from Rimmel it's one of those your-lip-color-but-better lipsticks. I love it! I wear it all year round. Airy Fairy is definitely a nudie-pink.

For spring we most def need a corally pink color and one of my favs is MAC's Costa Chic. It's more on the coral side but you can definitely detect the pink. This color has a very creamy feel as well!

Although this lipstick may not appear to be a vibrant orange it is. This photo just doesn't do it justice..it's super pretty! It's Revlon's Siren. Siren is a creamy opaque orange. Love it!

Instead of a red vampy lip for a spring night on the town I prefer to reach for CoverGirl's Embrace. This pinky-berry color has the perfect amount of vampy and a pop of color! It goes on a little more sheer than what the bullet appears but, it's very build-able.

And finally! A red! I wear red lips no matter what season it is. It's classic and always acceptable. One of my favorite reds of all time is Chanel's Gabrielle (number 19). It gives a nice sheeny finish (don't you just adore my descriptive words hahaha) and the stain it leaves on your lips is a nice "just bitten" color. I even wear this color during the day. It's ALWAYS in my purse (must have).

Beauty School?! Yay or Nay?! (becoming an Esthetician)

Hi again loves! Two posts in one day...I'm on a roll! Lol, on to the topic of today! I've always been a crazy makeup junkie ever since I was tall enough to reach my mommy's makeup! But had no clue about skincare other than the fact you were suppose to wash your makeup off at night...which I hardly ever did- hence my ACNE and acne hyperpigmentation. So shortly after I graduated high school I looked into makeup schools but where I'm from they do not offer just makeup schools. Then I stumbled across a school for Esthetics, I was like what the heck is that?!?! As I did more research I discovered what Esthetics were and what the program was all about...SKINCARE! I instantly was interested and signed up to meet with one of the advisers. I started school that April! I do not regret my decision. I learned so much not only about skin care but about waxing, threading, some massage techniques, facials, makeup application, what products are good for certain skin types! School last for 9 months, but they sure do pack and so much information in those 9 months! Although 9 months may seem like a short time period and you can't fully learn everything in those months but what Esthetics school does is teach you the basics of skin care and makeup and your experiences with the on-site clinic (which I will get to in a minute) and real life experiences is what teaches you the rest! When you're an Esthetician  you work on people on a daily basis and of course you need to practice before you go out there on your own so yes you do work on your classmates. After a few weeks of learning how to do a facial or waxing you put your new skills to the test at clinic! (Clinic- is a on-site spa, customers come there to receive facials or waxing treatments for lower prices then spas with licensed Estheticians...for your practice) I learned so much at clinic as well as Esthetic school in general and met some life long friends. The main reason I'm writing this post is to give you some insight on if you should go to makeup/skincare school. I would suggest going (not being biased) but it really prepares you for the "real world" and gives the basics of what you need to get into the beauty industry and many connects and plenty of job opportunities. I know I didn't go into major detail about the actual schooling, but if you beauties have any questions or comments or concerns please let me know in the comments below or at aubriidee@yahoo.com.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup Review/Rave!

Hi loves! I'm definitely late (wayyyy late) in trying the Neutrogena Healthy Skin makeup but, late is better than never! Anyhoo! I was using Revlon Photoready makeup ever since it was released. But me having ALOT of hyperpigmentation the Revlon Photoready was just not cutting it anymore- with the little specks of glitter and shimma shimma (as Marlena from MakeupGeek would say) it was just highlighting and emphasizing my problem areas! (thumbs down) After running out of the Photoready I quickly ran to Target (HEAVEN!) and sought out a new foundation. I was in a rush due to a baby shower I was set to attend, so I picked up the Neutrogena  Healthy Skin makeup in Fresh Beige. Initially I was thinking "I heard this foundation leaves a dewy finish and that makeup would just slip right off of my face due to my oily skin." Me being the rebel  I am I opted to purchase the foundation, even though I was out of town with NO other foundations as a back up. But good news dolls! I absolutely LOVE this foundation! I read some reviews on this foundation awhile before I got it and loads of beauties suggested to apply this foundation with your fingers I tried that way but it was a very sheer coverage when I used my fingers. I needed more coverage so  I applied it with a MAC 109, loved it! but today I used a Sigma F40 angled contour brush just because it was clean and I was lazy but it really shocked me I really liked how well they worked together! Contrary to what I've often heard about this foundation it lasted a solid 9 hours for me, and that's with minimal setting powder ( my T-zone went oily during the day but that is normal for me regardless of the foundation) . The coverage is actually very good for some like myself who has lots of hyperpigmentation. Unlike my Revlon Photoready it did not leave my skin looking cakey- which I'm soooo thankful for I despise cake faces! Also, this foundation does not oxidize that weird orangey color like some MAC foundations do. The foundation does in fact leave a nice dewy finish but much to my surprise that only made my skin look well, healthy with a "natural" glow and not like I was doused in baby oil- which i thought it would look like. Here's a photo of me before I had ANY makeup on (Yikes! lol) and the photo beside it is a photo of me in the middle of the day with the Neutrogena Healthy Skin makeup on.

I have on:
Neutrogena Healthy Skin makeup
MAC studio finish concealer in NC42
Maybelline Faslies mascara
MAC Virgin Isle creme blusher
MAC lipstick in Costa Chic

***my only con for this foundation is the packaging! Booooo for no pump!
